Secondary School Places – Outer North East Public Engagement Survey

Secondary School Provision – Outer North East Leeds

Public Engagement Exercise

Boston Spa School has applied to the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the School system (Lord Agnew) to become an academy sponsored by The Gorse Multi-academy Trust (TGAT). The council has asked that this decision is delayed while we engage with the local community about their preference for how school places in the area are organised in the future.

As this may lead to significant, long term changes to secondary education provision in the area it is clearly important that families have the chance to express their views. All responses received will be shared with the Department for Education before a decision is made on the academy application by Boston Spa School.

An online public engagement exercise commences on Wednesday 28th February and runs until Sunday 25th March. The Engagement Survey document, containing background information, data on finance and pupil numbers, can be found on the Leeds City Council School Place Planning webpage here. The online survey, which provides interested parties with the opportunity to share their views on how secondary school places in the area should be organised, can be found on the same webpage.

Please note that, although we will read all comments left on this blog page, we cannot respond to individual comments left here. If you wish to have your views formally acknowledged and included in the response to Lord Agnew, please complete the online survey through the link above or by requesting a paper copy of the survey response form. Requests for a response form should be made by emailing the Sufficiency and Participation team at educ.school.organisation@leeds.gov.uk

The engagement document and online survey can both be accessed from the school place planning webpage: https://www.leeds.gov.uk/residents/children-families-and-carers/schools-and-learning/school-place-planning/current-consultation
